| | Storing and Ageing WineCaves provide even temperature and humidity conditions for long term wine storage...which is 55 degrees and between 75 and 85 percent humidity. When wines are in very dry conditions, they tend to turn corks brittle and will eventually cause evaporation. Caves also provide a nice dark environment to prevent sunlight from oxidizing the wine. Since most of us do not have access to caves, we recommend storing your wine in a room or area that can meet similar conditions. You will want to maintain a consistent temperature (between 50 and 60 degrees) and somewhat humid (above 60 percent). The area should also be free of direct sunlight. | ![]() |
